Aesthetics is a term that broadly defines the value of a person, thing, art or appreciates any kind of beauty noticed by an individual in any form.

But is Aesthetics the same for you and me?

It gets subjective in nature and every individual’s judgement or philosophy on what is beautiful and attractive depends on their own personality and past knowledge and experiences. In other words, whatever the person has felt before in his life, he will relate to it and connect it to his memory of a certain point in time. That relation may develop a connection of aesthetics in his mindset about the particular thing he might be noticing at that point in time.

Individuals also vary from place to place and culture to culture. Depending on their surroundings too, their perception of aesthetics will be different from each other. Every culture has its different appreciations of values, it may understand art or any form in its own special mannerisms. For example, a person brought up in certain cultural traits might find his/her own upbringing and values very mindful and aesthetic but may or may not find something outside as aesthetic to what he has experienced before in his lifetime. This philosophy may apply to every particular individual as everyone’s mindsets differ in their thinking, upbringing, surroundings and likings.

Getting ahead in this philosophical nature of aesthetics, there have been no particular measures onto which someone’s appreciation of aesthetics about anything can be measured. It truly is a definition of a person’s past or novel experiences. His perspective on things defines his appreciation for aesthetics around him or imaginative. Anything aesthetic can be perceived by its own nature, appropriateness to oneself and its novelty. A feeling of relation to oneself can be caused instantly which may be irrational too.

Talking about rational or irrational thinking, aesthetics can be felt in both the ways depending on the state of mind of the person. If we are really conscious about the perseverance of a place, art, object, person or anything in nature, our thinking will be rational. That will eventually lead to our decisions and emotions affecting our feelings on anything being aesthetic, that decision will be consciously made and it will be a rational aesthetic measure. If the same noticing and likeliness about the place, art, object, person or nature is felt unconsciously, may be at a first glance, may be by its novelty, may be due to the experience it provides, or even just the pleasant feel of it, that feeling came to us unconsciously and the aesthetic felt towards that person, place or object is irrational. In both ways the feeling is pleasant, it is yet the appreciation about certain elements around us, it is just the process through which the mind considered something as aesthetic differed, which can be normal.

Aesthetics is unknowingly perceived in various forms and it is a nature of form every object may possess. It is just the eyes of the beholder that appreciates aesthetics in certain formats or some don’t. It can be called as a philosophy of perception by an individual or a community appreciating beauty, termed as ‘aesthetics’.
